**The Sevenoaks Society**

This is an independent and impartial association of local people which seeks to influence proposals and decisions on the conservation and development of Sevenoaks and its buildings, natural surroundings and infrastructure for the long-term benefit of the community and the protection of its heritage. It has a Walks and Footpaths section, and has published seven sets of walks in the area, each containing descriptions of 11 walks generally of around five miles and including a pub. An eighth volume is being prepared.

**Greensand Way**

This runs from Haslemere in Surrey to Hamstreet in Kent (South of Ashford). Parts of it feature in many of the walks we organise. Interesting information about this long-distance path, and maps, can be found here.

**Kent County Council (KCC)**

To report a problem on a Right of Way (in Kent, of course!), go to the relevant page on the KCC website, here. You will need to register the first time you use the facility. Reporting is done with the aid of a map which shows all the Kent Rights of Way, and details of all the 'furniture' (stiles, gates, etc), along with information about when the furniture was last inspected or reported as in need of attention. In addition to providing a description of the problem, upload a photo if you can. You will need to know the precise location of the problem you are reporting. If you use a smartphone with GPS turned on, or a suitably equipped camera, the location where the photo was taken will be stored as part of the photo's 'metadata' (descriptive and technical details).

KCC's responsibilities are confined to Rights of Way; they will not be interested in problems on other paths (including permissive paths). If you come across issues outside Kent you will have to report them to the appropriate authority (whose facilities might well not be as good as KCC's). **Kent Ramblers**

**Kent walks near London**

This is a personal website and blog maintained by journalist and musician Adam McCulloch. It describes more than twenty walks (with maps), and several pubs, in the local area. All of them (walks and pubs!) will have featured in one way or another in walks run by Sevenoaks Ramblers

**Knole Park**

This 600-year-old deer park is a 383 ha / 947 acre Site of Special Scientific Interest, not least because of several scarce invertebrates living there. It is easy to spend 3 hours walking in the park. The car park is managed by the National Trust (which manages the house), so parking is not free unless you are an NT member. As well as (chargeable) car parks in Sevenoaks, parking is possible in several roads around the park (which has many pedestrian gates around the perimiter).
