Walking with Sevenoaks Ramblers

Welcome to Sevenoaks Ramblers. We're a friendly bunch and always happy to see new faces as well as our regulars. Walkers who have never rambled before or who belong to another group often join us. You can just turn up - there's no need to contact the leader in advance unless you have any queries.
Our walks programme is extended on a rolling basis, so it's worth regularly checking the walk list, which shows all imminent rambles. Click on a walk to get all the information you need to join it. We run walks on Sundays and Wednesdays. The length varies from 5 miles to 15 or even more for the fit and keen. The shorter the walk, the slower the pace. All walks have a stop for an elevenses snack, and some of us bring a hot drink. If you are joining a walk of more than 10 miles, there is likely to be a fair bit of ascent and descent, and you need to bring a picnic. The leader may time the lunch stop to coincide with proximity to a pub, with half an hour or so to have a drink. Short walks may end with pub/cafe lunchtime refreshments for those who want to join in. All details of what to bring, how hilly the walk is and what highlights to expect along the way, are in the description and accompanying photos of each walk. Every outing is led by an experienced walker, who gives a (short) briefing at the start, and whose instructions should be followed. Most walks start and end at the same point, generally in a free car park, and sometimes near a station so people can come by public transport. We encourage car sharing and have an opt-in WhatsApp group for Sevenoaks Ramblers, which makes organising lifts easy. Occasionally a walk is linear, using public transport to get from the finishing point to the start, or vice versa
Joining a walk
We hope you choose to come walking with us - if you do, please observe the following:
- Depending on the time of year you may encounter mud, puddles and rain! Please ensure you are capable of doing the walk and are properly equipped - contact the leader if you have any concerns. Bring enough water for the walk, especially in hot weather, and any snacks you need to keep you going.
- Registered assistance dogs are welcome where it is possible to accommodate them. Please check with the leader at least the day before. Otherwise, please only bring your dog if the walk details state that dogs are welcome. Note that Rambler's Third Party Insurance does not cover incidents caused by dogs, and legal responsibility lies with you.
- Children may be welcome on shorter walks, under your supervision - check with the leader beforehand.
- For further general advice, please look at the Ramblers Association website
