Limpsfield - 4 March 2026 (11 miles)

Paths around Limpsfield - 11 miles Circular Wednesday, 4th March One misty morning when cloudy was the weather, 15 ramblers set off from St. Andrew's Church for the first of our circular walks around woodland to the east of Limpsfield Chart.
As we set out, one churchgoer expressed concern that the mist may cause us to lose our way. Four miles into the walk, we ran into the same churchgoer, so we could reassure her that all was well with the group, with the mist having lifted right on time, as we exited the woodland. We then headed south, partly along the Vanguard Way, with the sun in the sky, which also encouraged a kestrel and a green woodpecker to make an appearance.
After a break for lunch on the trail sitting in the sun, we headed back up towards West Heath and Limpsfield Common, where the mud had not yet received the memo that Spring had started. The group then headed back towards the start point at pace, where post walk, well deserved drinks were enjoyed by many of the group in the Carpenters Arms garden opposite the green.
Thank you to everyone who joined the walk and to Clare and Sharon for back-marking and Alice for helping with the recce.
