Walk for a Haggis - 10 miles Wednesday, 21st January 2026 With a weather forecast of gusty winds and 100% heavy rain all day, never before have 13 ramblers so deserved a pub lunch. And what a lunch it was! Over haggis, neeps and tatties (whisky sauce an optional extra), part-Scot Clare gave the dripping walkers - and several tables of Sennockian drinkers - a rousing rendition of Robert Burns' Address to a Haggis, 'Great chieftain o the puddin- [sausage] race', to rambunctious applause. Spirits were high; prices were low, and there was some reluctance to leave the cosy indoor warmth.

Leader Richard had devised a designer route across the blasted heathland of Knole Park and various hard-core based paths that was surprisingly unmuddy, and the 8 miles before lunch meant we had to brace ourselves for a mere 2 in the afternoon. Thanks to him for leading, to Kate and Dominique for the photos, to Simon for backmarking and general galvanising and, of course, to Clare for reading the poem with aplomb.
